Harrogate Visitor Information

A Victorian spa town based upon local sulphur wells, Harrogate's popularity grew during the nineteenth century with its baths the main attraction.

Places of interest to visit here include that of Ripley Castle. Resting upon the banks of the River Nidd, the castle was built in the sixteenth century and is situated just outside of Harrogate. The octagonal Pump Room Museum built in Victorian times enables visitors to put the spa water to the test.

A good base for walking holidays in the Dales, Harrogate offers delightful expansive parks and graceful buildings.
